A Healthy Chocolate Chip Cookie for Chocolate Lovers

Looking for a healthy and delicious version of the chocolate chip cookie? Before you begin to make this recipe, be sure that you have gathered all the ingredients together to make sure that you have everything you need. You will want to pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

1 ½ sticks butter, softened

¾ cup brown sugar

¾ cup white sugar

¼ cup milk

2 eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla

1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup whole wheat flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 ¼ cup old-fashioned rolled oats

2 to 2 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Mix the butter and sugars on high speed until fluffy. Once this is done, slowly add the milk, eggs and vanilla. Continue to beat until the mixture is fluffy again.

In another bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients. Add this mixture to the liquid mixture, stirring well. Once all the ingredients are combined, slowly stir the chocolate chips into the mixture by hand. Refrigerate the dough for at least one hour.

Once chilled, measure approximately 2 tablespoons of dough and roll into a ball. Place the dough onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, flattened slightly, until about 1 inch high.

Bake the chocolate chip cookie until lightly brown around the edges: approximately 10 to 12 minutes. Oven temperatures vary so keep a close eye on the edges of the cookie and remove when lightly browned. Don’t overbake or the chocolate chip cookies will end up being dry. This recipe makes approximately 24 cookies.
